We’re very excited to be presenting a concert ‘Cardoso & The Golden Age’ as part of our Cardoso450 project next month on Thursday December 8th at 7.30pm. We will also be singing Mass at 6.00pm for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Admission to the concert is free and there will be refreshments served afterwards. We will be singing music by Cardoso himself alongside some choice gems from his contemporaries, composers who, along with Cardoso, helped to define ‘The Golden Age’ of Portuguese polyphony. The full programme will be announced shortly.
Although we don’t know Cardoso’s date of birth, we do know that he was baptised on the 11th December. With high mortality rates, children were baptised at the earliest opportunity; it is therefore quite likely that our concert falls on his birthday. Sunday 11th December features Cardoso’s music and Mass that day will be offered for his intention.
